தமிழக சரணாலயங்களில் புலி, சிறுத்தை, யானை, காட்டெருது (Gaur), கரடி, கடமான், கேளையாடு (மான் வகை), புள்ளி மான், வரையாடு, சருகுமான், வெளிமான், செந்நாய், கழுதைப்புலி, நரி, மரநாய், நீர்நாய், மந்தி, கருமந்தி, சோலை மந்தி (சிங்கவால் குரங்கு), மலைஅணில், ராஜநாகம், மலைப்பாம்பு, முதலை உள்ளிட்ட உயிரினங்கள் உள்ளன.

வறண்ட வெப்பமண்டலக் காடுகளைக் கொண்ட இச்சரணாலயத்தில் கடமான், புள்ளிமான், காட்டுப்பூனை நரி, கழுதைப்புலி, அனுமன் குரங்கு ரீசசு குரங்கு, நீலப்பசு போன்ற விலங்குகள் காணப்படுகின்றன.

இங்கு புலி, நாய், கழுதைப்புலி, ஓநாய், நரி, எருமை, குரங்கு, கரடி ஆகிய விலங்குகளைக் காண முடியும்.

முதல் கதையில் வருகின்ற ஒராங்குட்டான் பையின் அம்மா; காயமுற்ற வரிக்குதிரை கால்முறிந்த கடற்பயணி; கழுதைப்புலி சமையற்காரர்; ரிச்சர்ட் பார்க்கர் என்ற வங்காளப் புலி பையே தான்.

கழுதைப்புலிக்கு கடுவாய்,என்புதின்றி, கொடுவாய், தரக்கு, புலிக்குடத்தி, கழுதைக்குடத்தி,கழுதைக்குறத்தி, வங்கு என்ற பிற பெயர்களும் வழங்கி வந்துள்ளன.

பாம்புதிண்ணிக் கழுகு, கருங்கழுகு, சிகப்பு காட்டுக்கோழி, மலபார் மலை மொங்கான், பறக்கும் அணில், கடமான், புள்ளிமான், காட்டெருமை, நரி, லங்கூர் குரங்கு, முள்ளம்பன்றி, காட்டுநாய், இந்திய ஓநாய், கழுதைப்புலி, சிறுத்தை மற்றும் புலி போன்ற விலங்கினங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன.
