இலாக் அல்லது இலாக் வியட் என வழங்கப்பட்ட தோங் சோன் மக்கள், நெல் பயிரிடுவதிலும் நீர்யானை, பன்றிக் கால்நடை வளர்ப்பிலும் மீன் பிடித்தலிலும் நீண்ட திமில் படகு ஓட்டுவதிலும் வெண்கல வார்ப்புத் தொழிலிலும் கைதேர்ந்தவர்.

குறிப்பாக நீர்யானை, நீர்நாய்கள், நைல் முதலைகள், பலவகையான ஆமைகள், நன்னீர் நண்டுகள் போன்றவை அதிக அளவில் விக்டோரியா ஏரியில் வாழ்கின்றன .
