guillotin தமிழ் அர்த்தத்தின் உதாரணம்:

நோய்கள் உரோம் ஆப்பிள் (Rome apple) (சிவப்பு உரோம், உரோம் அழகு, கில்லட்டின் நாற்று என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது) என்பது 19 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் முற்பகுதியில் உரோமின் ஓஹியோ நகரத்தின் அருகே தோன்றிய ஆப்பிள் வகைகளுள் ஒன்றாகும்.

புரட்சிகர பிரான்சில் மரண தண்டனை வழிமுறைகளை சீர் திருத்தில் ஜோசப்-இக்னேஸ் கில்லட்டின் எனும் மருத்துவரின் பெயரால் இவ்வியந்திரங்கள் “கில்லட்டின்” என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டன.

இதற்குப் பிறகு கில்லட்டின் (Guillotine) என்ற பொறி பயன்படுத்தப் பட்டு மரண தண்டனைகள் நிறைவேற்றப் பட்டன.

கில்லட்டின்கள் வெகுஜன நினைவிலும் பரவலர் ஊடகங்களிலும் பிரெஞ்சுப் புரட்சி, பயங்கர ஆட்சி போன்றவற்றுடன் பெரிதும் தொடர்பு படுத்தப்படுகின்றன எனினும் பிரான்சில் 1981 மரண தண்டனை ஒழிக்கப்படும் வரை பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டு வந்தன.

முதலில் "கில்லட்டின் நாற்று" என்று அழைக்கப்பட்ட இது, நகரத்தின் நினைவாக 1832ஆம் ஆண்டில் "உரோம் அழகு" எனப் பெயர் மாற்றப்பட்டது.

பாரிசு நகரில் மட்டும் 2,639 பேரும், பிரான்சு முழுவதும் மொத்தமாக 16,594 பேரும் இக்காலகட்டத்தில் கில்லட்டின் மூலம் தலை துண்டிக்கப்பட்டு கொல்லப்பட்டனர்.

நினைவகங்கள் கில்லட்டின் அல்லது கில்லெட்டின் (guillotine) மாந்தரின் தலையை வெட்டிக் கொன்று மரண தண்டனை நிறைவேற்றப் பயன்படும் எந்திரம்.

விரைவாக மரண தண்டனையை நிறைவேற்றும் எந்திரமொன்று தேவைப்பட்டதால் கில்லட்டின் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டது.
