இதில் இரண்டு முக்கிய வகைகள் உள்ளன: நழுவும் இரைப்பை ஏற்றம் என்பது இரைப்பையின் சிறு பகுதி நெஞ்சுக்குள் புகுவதும் மீண்டும் வயிற்றுக்குள் திரும்பும் நிலை ஒன்று ஆகும்.

இந்த வகை மெட்டாபிளாசியாவுக்கான ஒரு எடுத்துக்காட்டாவது, பேனத் செல் மெட்டாபிளாசியா வாகும், இதில் பேனத் செல் உருவாக்கம் (பொதுவாக சிறுகுடலில் காணப்படுபவை) இரைப்பை குடல் அமைப்பின் பிற பகுதிகளில் காணப்படுகிறது.

எதிர்க்களித்தல் அல்லது பின்னோட்டம் என்பது சமிபாடடையாத உணவு இரைப்பையில் இருந்து பின்னோக்கி (மேல்நோக்கி) உணவுக்குழாய் மூலம் தள்ளுவிசையின்றி வாயை அடைதல் ஆகும், இச்சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் வாந்தி எடுக்கும்போது உண்டாகக்கூடிய அசௌகரியங்கள் தோன்றுவது இல்லை, மேலும் இவற்றிற்கான காரணங்கள் வேறுபட்டவையாகும்.
