பாகுபாட்டு சிக்கல்கள் வயது (தலைமுறைப் பாகுபாடு), பாலினம், இனம், மதம், குறைபாடுகள், எடை மற்றும் ஈர்ப்புத்தன்மை ஆகியவற்றின் அடிப்படையில் ஏற்படும் பாகுபாட்டை உள்ளடக்கியவை.

இக்குழு முனைவாக்கமுடையதெனின் நீர்விரும்பி அல்லது நீர் ஈர்ப்புத்தன்மை உடையதாகவும், முனைவாக்கமற்றதாயின் நீர்வெறுப்பி அல்லது நீர் விலக்கும் தன்மை உடையதாகவும் அமையும்.

தூய கந்தக் காடி நீர் ஈர்ப்புத்தன்மை (நீரில் எளிதில் கரையும் தன்மை) கொண்டதால் இயற்கையில் நிலவுலகில் கிடைப்பதில்லை.
