வெட்ச்வூட்டின் வேலைகள் உயர்ந்த தரம் கொண்டவை.

18 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் சோசியா வெட்ச்வூட் (Josiah Wedgwood) வெண்ணிற மட்பாண்டப் பொருள் ஒன்றை உருவாக்கினார்.

இதனால் இரு குடும்பத்தினரிடையே ஏற்பட்ட நெருக்கமான தொடர்பினால், சோசியா வெட்ச்வூட்டின் மூத்த மகளை எராசுமசின் மகன் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டார்.

சுசன்னா வெட்ச்வூட் (1765 - 1817).

இவர்களுள் மூத்தவரான சுசன்னா வெட்ச்வூட், ராபர்ட் டார்வின் என்பவரை மணந்து கொண்டார்.

மாகாணத்தில் மிகவும் கவர்ச்சிகரமான இயற்கைப் பகுதிகளில் ஒன்றான (வெட்ச்த்ஸ்டிரீக்) வேட்டுப் பகுதி, வட்டு ஆற்றின் இரு பக்கத்திலும் அமைந்துள்ளது.

சோசியா வெட்ச்வூட் என்ற மண்பானை வினைஞர், தனது சூளையில் முதல் மீவெப்பநிலை அளவியைப் பயன்படுத்தினார்.

சுமார் 1800 ஆண்டுகளில் பிரிட்டிஷ் கண்டுபிடிப்பாளர், தாமஸ் வெட்ச்வூட் (Thomas Wedgwood) ஒளி-உணர் பொருளைக் கொண்டு அப்ஸ்கியுரா ஒளிப்படக் கருவி மூலம் படப்பதிவு செய்ய முதல் முயற்சி மேற்கொண்டார்.

இவர் இசுடோக்-ஆன்-டிரெண்ட் (Stoke-on-Trent) என்னும் நகரிலுள்ள பர்சிலெம் என்னும் இடத்தில், தாமசு வெட்ச்வூட், மேரி வெட்ச்வூட் ஆகியோருக்குப் பிறந்த 12 பிள்ளைகளுள் கடைசிப் பிள்ளையாகப் பிறந்தார்.

வாத்துக்களின் ஒரு குழுவிற்கான கூட்டு பெயர்ச்சொல் கக்லே (gaggle) அவைகள் குழுவாக பறக்கும்போது ஒரு ஸ்கின் (skein), (அ) ஒரு வெட்ச் (wedge) ; ஒட்டி பறக்கும்போது ப்ளம்ப் (plump) என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

இச் சோதனைகளில் ஈர்க்கப்பட்ட வெட்ச்வூட், தனது சொந்த நகரில் இருந்த ஐவி வர்க்சு (Ivy Works) என்னும் மட்பாண்ட உற்பத்தித் தொழிலகத்தைக் குத்தகைக்கு எடுத்தார்.

வெட்ச்வூட் தனது தூரத்து உறவினரான சாரா என்பவரை 1764 ஆம் ஆண்டு சனவரியில் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டார்.

இதனால், வெட்ச்வூட் தனது தொழிலை நடத்துவதில் தனது நண்பரான எராசுமசு டார்வினின் உதவியை நாடினார்.

The plants most frequently used are white mustard, rape, buckwheat, spurry, rye, and several kinds of leguminous plants, especially vetches, lupins and serradella.

Besides wheat, the following crops are to a greater or less extent cultivated - barley, millet, sesame, maize, beans, peas, lentils, kursenni (a species of vetch used as camel-food) and, in some parts of the country, tobacco.
