இந்திய தேசிய இராணுவத்தில் தீவிரமாக ஈடுபட்டு பர்மா முன்னணியில் ஓர் அதிகாரியாகப் பணியாற்றினார்.

தொலைத்தொடர்பு பதவி நீக்கல் சடங்கு (Cashiering, அல்லது degradation ceremony), என்பது உயர் பதவி வகிக்கும் ஓர் அதிகாரியை முறைகேடுகள் காரணமாகப் பதவியில் இருந்து அகற்றுவதற்காக மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் சடங்கு அல்லது தண்டனை ஆகும்.

1765-ஆம் ஆண்டு, பிரித்தானியக் கிழக்கிந்தியக் கம்பனியில், ஓர் அதிகாரியாகப் பணிபுரிந்த கேப்டன் பிரான்சிஸ் லைட் என்பவர், பினாங்கில் காலடி வைத்தார்.
