மூலக்கூற்று இடைவிசையால் பிணைக்கப்பட்ட, அணுக்கள் போன்ற, பருப்பொருளின் சிறிய அதிர்வுறும் துகள்களால் ஆனது நீர்மம்.

ஒவ்வொரு சுழற்சிக்கு பின்னும் அதிர்வின் வீச்சு குறைந்துகொண்டே வந்தால் அது தணித்த அதிர்வு எனப்படும்.

இதன் மூலம் தெரியவருவது என்னவென்றால் அரசால் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்ட சாலையில் கார் செல்லத் தேவையான அனைத்து குறிப்பிடப்பட்ட, மாசு அல்லது சத்தம் மற்றும் அதிர்வு உட்பட எல்லா தனிப்பட குறித்துக் காட்டப்படும் அம்சங்களையும் சந்தித்து, கார் சாலையில் பறக்கத் தயாரான நிலையிலுள்ளது.

இதற்கு எளிமையான எடுத்துக்காட்டாக ஒலியைவிட அதிக வேகத்தில் செல்லும் விமான முகப்பில் இந்த இருவகை அதிர்வு அலைகளும் உண்டாகின்றன.
