கீழ்க்காணும் முறை Vertebrate Palaeontology (முதுகெலும்பியின் தொல்லுயிரியல் பாகுபாடு) என்னும் நூலின் மூன்றாவது பதிப்பினைப் பின்பற்றியதுVertebrate Palaeontology.

தொல்லுயிரியல் (Paleontology).

மில்னர் (Angela Milner; 3 அக்டோபர் 1947 – 13 ஆகத்து 2021) என்பவர் இங்கிலாந்தினைச் சார்ந்த தொல்லுயிரியல் ஆராய்ச்சியாளர் ஆவார்.

இவர் சிறுமியாக இருந்தபோது, புவியியல், தொல்லுயிரியல், தொல்லியல், மருத்துவம் உட்பட அறிவியலிலும் கல்விப் புலங்களிலும் பல வாழ்க்கைப்பணிகளை கருதிப் பார்த்துள்ளார்.

விலங்கு மற்றும் தாவர புதைபடிவங்களை ஆராய்வதன் மூலம் பூமியில் வரலாற்றுக்கு முந்தைய வாழ்க்கை வடிவங்களை ஆய்வு செய்யும் துறை தொல்லுயிரியல் அல்லது புதைபடிவ ஆய்வியல் எனப்படுகிறது.

1992 பிறப்புகள் முதுகெலும்பிகளின் தொல்லுயிரியல் (Vertebrate Paleontology) என்பது சிகாகோ பல்கலைக்கழக பதிப்பகத்தால் வெளியிடப்பட்ட ஆல்பிரட் ஷெர்வுட் ரோமர் எழுதிய முதுகெலும்புடைய உயிரிகளின் தொல்லுயிரியல் குறித்த உயர்கல்வி நூலாகும்.

பொருள் நோக்கு நிரலாக்க மொழிகள் தொல்லுயிரியல் என்பது பாறைகளில் பதிவாகியுள்ள பண்டைய தாவரங்கள் மற்றும் விலங்குகளின் தொல்லுயிர்ப் படிவங்களை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு அவற்றின் விருத்தி பற்றி ஆராயும் துறையாகும்.

இவர் 1968 ஆம் ஆண்டில், கென்யாவில் தர்கானா ஏரிக்கருகிலுள்ள உலோதகம் எனுமிடத்தில், பிந்தைய தொடக்கநிலைப் புத்துயிரிக் காலத்துக்கும் முதனிலை இடையுயிரிக் காலத்துக்கும் இடைப்பட்ட தொல்லுயிரியல் உருவாக்கம் குறித்து விரிவாக ஆய்வு செய்துள்ளார்.

முந்தைய மனிதர்களின் உணவில் கணிசமான விகிதத்தை இறைச்சி கொண்டிருந்ததாக தொல்லுயிரியல் சான்றுகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

புகழ் பெற்ற தொல்லுயிரியல் ஆய்வாளர் முனைவர் லீக்கி அவர்களின் பரிந்துரையின் அடிப்படையில், இவர் ஆற்றிய அரிய ஆய்வுகளுக்காக இங்கிலாந்தில் உள்ள கேம்பிரிட்ஜ் பல்கலைக்கழகம் முனைவர் பட்டத்தை 1964ல் அளித்தது.

புவிச்சூழல் தொல்லுயிர்ப்படிவுகள் பற்றிய ஆய்வில் முன்னோடியான இவர் கிழக்கு ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் மாந்தரினம் தோன்றிய சூழலில் நிலவிய புவியியல், தொல்லுயிரியல் புலங்களின் ஆய்வில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளார்.
