கயவாய்கள் பொதுவாக ஆறுகளின் கழிமுகங்களாக உள்ளதுடன், நிலப்பகுதி நீரோட்டத்தினால் அல்லது கரைக்கு அப்பாலிருந்து வரும் படிவு, வண்டல் ஆகியவை இங்கே காணப்படுகின்றன.

குன்டோங் (Qingtong) ஆழ்பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இருந்து வெளி வந்ததும் பரந்த வண்டல் சமவெளிகளான யின்சோன் (Yinchuan) மற்றும் ஹெடோ (Hetao) சமவெளிகளை அடைகிறது.

மணல், சேறு, மற்றும் வண்டல் ஆகியனவற்றைக் கொண்டுள்ள இப்படிவுகள் ஆறுகளால் கடலுக்கு அடித்துவரப்படுகின்றன.

ஆண்டுக்கு சராசரியாக 530 மில்லியன் டன் வண்டல் அணை நீர்தேக்கத்தில் சேரும் என விமர்சகர்கள் கூறுகிறார்கள்.
