பொதுவாக தீவிரமான குருதியிலிருந்து உருவாகும் தொற்றுநோய்களான மலேரியா, யானைக்கால் நோய் போன்றவை இப்படியான காவிகளாலேயே ஏற்படுகின்றது.

எய்ட்சு, புற்றுநோய், யானைக்கால் நோய், ஐயோடின் குறைபாடு, தொழு நோய், மனநலம், குருட்டுத் தன்மை, கேள்விக் குறைபாடு, நீரிழிவு நோய், இதயக் குழலிய நோய் மற்றும் காச நோய் போன்றவைகளுக்கு 13 தேசிய சுகாதாரத்திட்டங்களைச் செயல்படுத்துகிறது.

கிழக்குப் போர்முனை (இரண்டாம் உலகப் போர்) யானைக்கால் நோய் (Elephantiasis) wதோலும், அதன் கீழே உள்ள திசுக்களும், குறிப்பாக கால்களும், ஆண் இனப்பெருக்க உறுப்பும் மிகவும் தடிப்பாகிவிடும் ஒரு நோயாகும்.
