இலங்கைத் தமிழரசுக் கட்சி (சமஷ்டிக் கட்சி) ஆரம்பித்த காலத்திலேயே துரைரத்தினம் அக்கட்சியில் இணைந்து, போராட்டங்களில் கலந்துகொண்டார்.

1944இல் நிறுவப்பட்ட அரசியல் கட்சிகள் இலங்கைத் தமிழரசுக் கட்சி (Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi, ITAK, முன்னாள் சமஷ்டிக் கட்சி, Federal Party) இலங்கைத் தமிழரைப் பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்தும் இலங்கை அரசியற் கட்சியாகும்.

விஜய குமாரதுங்க 1985/86 காலப் பகுதிகளிலேயே இலங்கை இனப் பிரச்சினைக்கு சமஷ்டி முறையிலான அரசியல் தீர்வே ஒரேயொரு இறுதித் தீர்வென அச்சமின்றி சுட்டிக்காட்டியிருந்தார்.

பண்டாரநாயக்கா இளைஞர் காங்கிரஸ் மாநாட்டில் கலந்து கொண்டு முதற் தடவையாக இலங்கைக்கான சமஷ்டி அரசியலமைப்பை முன்வைத்து உரையாற்றினார்.

பேர்ண் சமஷ்டி அமைப்புகளின் தலைநகராகவுள்ள போதிலும் சூரிச் வர்த்த உலகில் அறியப்பட்ட நகரங்களாகவும் உள்ளன.

போலந்து 1956 ம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் திரிகோணமலை நகரில் நடத்தப்பட்ட சமஷ்டிக்கட்சி (தமிழரசுக் கட்சி) யின் முக்கியத்துவம் மிக்க மாநாடொன்றே திருமலை மாநாடு என்ற பெயரால் குறிப்பிட்டழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
