2017-இல் வேளாண் மக்களின் பங்களிப்புடன் நீர்நிலைகளைத் தூர்வாரி, பராமரிக்கும் குடிமராமத்து திட்டத்தை தமிழக அரசு விரைவில் அமல்படுத்த தமிழ்நாடு அரசு திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.

'ஹன்சிதா' என்ற தூர்வாரிக் கப்பல் கரை தட்டியதன் காரணமாக கடற்கரை இப்போது கொல்லம் நகரத்தின் முக்கிய சுற்றுலா தலங்களில் ஒன்றாகியுள்ளது.

தூர்வாரிய பொருள் அல்லது இடத்தை பயன்படுத்துவது குறித்து பரவலாக பத்து பயன்படும் பிரிவுகள் அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டுள்ளது.
