விடுதலை தரும் அறிவை (ஞானத்தை) மனிதருக்கு வழங்குவதற்காக ஒரு தெய்விக மீட்பர் (விடுதலையாளர்) (divine savior) வருவார் என்னும் கருத்து பல ஞானக் கொள்கைப் பிரிவுகளிடம் உண்டு.

அவரது புத்தகங்கள் "ரிஸாலே யே நூர்" (தெய்விக ஒளியின் கடிதங்கள்) என்ற பெயரில் ஒன்றுதிரட்டப்பட்டது.

திருச்சபைத் தலைவர்கள் தெய்விக விஷயங்களில் தங்களை விட உயர்ந்த அதிகாரிகள் இல்லை என்று கருதினர்.

திருப்பலியிலும் தெய்விக வழிபாட்டிலும் கிறித்தவர்கள் நற்கருணை என்னும் அருட்சாதனத்தைக் கொண்டாடுகின்றனர்.

மனிதராகவும் அதே நேரத்தில் கடவுளாகவும் விளங்குகின்ற இயேசு ஒரே தெய்விக ஆளாக உள்ளார் என்பதும், அதனால் இயேசுவின் தாய் ஆகிய மரியாவைக் "கடவுளின் தாய்" என்று அழைத்துப் போற்றுவது சரியே என்றும் சங்கம் வரையறுத்தது.

அரசப் பரம்பரையினர், தங்கட்கு ஒரு தெய்விக ஆட்சி உரிமையுண்டென்று கருதலாயினர்.

ஆனால் பல பெருங்கோயில்களின் வரலாறுகள் புராணங்கள் புனைந்ததாக மாறி தெய்விகத் தன்மை அடைந்துவிட்டன.

Rousseau, though not an active assailant of Christianity, could have claimed kindred with the nobler deists.

He dwells much more pronouncedly than Herbert on the view, afterwards regarded as a special characteristic of all deists, that much or most error in religion has been invented or knowingly maintained by sagacious men for the easier maintenance of good government, or in the interests of themselves and their class.
