இம்மன்னன் இறந்தபொழுது பாடப்பட்ட இரு இரங்கற்பாக்கள், இவன் இறந்த இடமாகிய குளமுற்றம் எங்குள்ளது என்றோ, இவன் இறந்ததற்கு காரணம் என்ன என்றோ கூறாவிடினும் இவனது அகந்தையை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகின்றன.

அதனால் பாண்டிய நாட்டைக் காக்கும் பொருட்டு சிவபெருமானே விறகு விற்கும் வியாபாரியாக வந்து புலவரின் அகந்தையை அடக்குகிறார்.

மறுபக்கம், செல்வந்தரான படித்த ரவி (சிவகுமார்), அகந்தை கொண்ட தாய் நிர்மலா தேவி (வடிவுக்கரசி) மற்றும் படிக்காத தந்தையுடன் வாழ்ந்து வருகிறான்.

பகவான் திரிவிக்கிரமன் வடிவு எடுத்து வானை ஒரு காலாலும், மண்ணுலகை ஒரு காலாலும் அளக்க, மூன்றாமடியை அவனது தலையில் வைத்து அவனது அகந்தையை ஒழித்தார்.

‘தான்’என்ற அகந்தையை அழித்து விட்டு தனது ஆத்மாவை இறைவனுக்குத் திருப்படையல் செய்ய வேண்டும்.
