1525 ஆம் ஆண்டு, மார்ட்டின் லூதர் கேத்தரினா வான் போரா என்ற பெண் துறவியர் மடத்திலிருந்து வெளியேறி விட்டன்பர்க்கில் தஞ்சமடைந்த முன்னாள் சந்நியாசினியை மணந்தார்.

வேதாந்த ஞானம் அடைந்த பின்பு சந்நியாசம் மேற்கொள்வதை வித்வத் சந்நியாசம் என்பர்.

கர்மபலனில் பற்றுக் கொண்டு கர்மாக்களைச் செய்பவனுக்கு சுவர்க்கம் கிடைப்பினும் கூட அது நரகம் போல் துக்கத்தை தருவன என்ற பெரும் உண்மையை உணர்ந்து நிறைவான வைராக்கியம் அடைந்து, சந்நியாச ஆசிரமத்தை ஏற்க வேண்டும்.

இவருக்கு ஆரம்பத்தில் சத்யபிரிய தீர்த்தரால் சந்நியாசம் வழங்கப்பட்டது.

சைவசித்தாந்த ஆதீனங்கள் -18 இல் இந்த ஆதீன குருமகாசந்நிதானம் இல்லறத்தார் குடியீச சந்நியாசி.

அவரின் வேண்டுகோளின் படி, ரத்னா துளசிதாசை நிராகரித்து விட்டு, சந்நியாசனியாகக் காலம் கழிக்கிறாள்.

விராட் புருசனின் இடுப்புக்குக் கீழுள்ள முன்புறப் பகுதியிலிருந்து கிரகஸ்த ஆசிரமமும் (இல்லறம்), இருதயத்திலிருந்து பிரம்மச்சரியம் (மாணவப் பருவம்) ஆசிரமமும், மார்பிலிருந்து வனப் பிரஸ்த ஆசிரமமும் (காடுறைந்து வாழும் முறை), தலையிலிருந்து சந்நியாச ஆசிரமமும் (துறவறம்) தோன்றின.

காசியில் ஓடும் கங்கை ஆற்றாங்கரையில் உலாவுவதும், அங்கு குடிசையில் வாழும் யோகிகள், துறவிகள் மற்றும் சந்நியாசிகளிடம் நட்புடன் பழகுவதுமாக காலம் கழித்தார்.

1891 ஆம் ஆண்டளவில் பெரிய சந்நியாசியார் என அழைக்கப்பட்ட ஆறுமுகம் சந்நியாசியார் இக் கோயில் திருப்பணிகளில் ஈடுபடலானார்.
