1948 பிறப்புகள் பிறபொருளெதிரி (Antibody) என்பது முதுகெலும்பிகளில் உடலினுள்ளே வரும் பாக்டீரியா தீ நுண்மம் அல்லது வைரசு போன்ற நோயை உருவாக்கும் வெளிப் பொருட்களை அடையாளம்கண்டு, அவற்றை அழிக்கவோ அல்லது செயலற்றதாகவோ ஆக்குவதற்காக, நோய் எதிர்ப்பாற்றல் முறைமையால் பயன்படுத்தப்படும், குருதியிலும், வேறு உடல் திரவங்களிலும் காணப்படும் ஒரு வகைப் புரதம் ஆகும்.
