ತೆರಿಗೆಗಳ್ಳರು, ದಂಗೆಕೋರರು ಮತ್ತು ಶತ್ರುಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು "ಆನೆಗಳ ಕಾಲುಗಳ ಕೆಳಗೆ" ವಧಿಸುವ ಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹಿಂದೂ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮ್ ಪ್ರಭುಗಳು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
