તેઓ ખરડો પસાર થતો તો ન રોકી શક્યા, પણ ભારતીયોને થતા અન્યાય તરફ ત્યાંની પ્રજા અને સરકારનું ધ્યાન ખેંચવામાં તેમની ઝુંબેશ ખૂબ સફળ રહી.
