ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ-ਸੰਵੇਦਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਤ-ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਪਰੰਪਰਾ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨਤਮ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪਰੰਪਰਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਤਰ-ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੰਤਰ-ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਦੇ ਘੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਐਨ-ਖੇਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਥੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਿਕਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਾਰਥਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਪਰਿਪੇਖ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
