ਉਸ ਦੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਸਦਕਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਇਕ ਖ਼ੁਦਮੁਖ਼ਤਾਰ ਜਾਂ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦਾ ਰੁਤਬਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ।
