ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ‘ਜਨਮਸਾਖੀ ਦੀ ਹਾਫ਼ਿਜਾਬਾਦੀ ਹੱਥ ਲਿਖਤ 1885 ਈ. ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸਦਾ ਲੇਖਕ ਰਾਵਲਪਿੰਡੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰੀ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਹੈ।

ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਥ ਲਿਖਤ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਆ ਉੱਪਰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
