ਇਹ ਗਿੰਸਾਨਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਦਿਗੰਬਰਾ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਹੈ।

ਮਹਾਭਾਰਤ ਅਰੁੰਧਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੱਤ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਸੂਫ਼ੀ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ-ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਤ ਸੀ।

“ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਵਿਵਹਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਰਥ ਵੱਲ ਢੁਕਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਚੇ ਦਰਜੇ ਦੇ ਕਵੀ ਸਨ | ਪ੍ਰੱਤਖ ਚੀਜਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਮਲਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਧਰਨਾ ਵੱਲ ਬਦਲਣਾ ਏਹ ਉਹਨਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਸੀ | ਜਦ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ, ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਲ ਢੁਕਾਨ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ | ਏਹਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਗੁਣ ਹੈ |”।

ਗਿਆਨੀ, ਧਿਆਨੀ, ਗੁਰੂ, ਤਿਆਗੀ ਜਾਂ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਹੈਂਕੜ ਕਿਤੇ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

1873 – ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਵੇਦਾਂਤ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਸਵਾਮੀ ਰਾਮਤੀਰਥ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ।

ਉਸਦੇ ਦੋਸਤ, ਰੋਟਰਡੈਮ ਦੇ ਧਰਮ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰੀ ਡਿਸੀਡੇਰੀਅਸ ਇਰਾਸਮਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮੋਰ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੰਭੀਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

ਕੋਸੀਪੁਰ ਆਸ਼ਰਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਰੇਂਦਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਵਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ 'ਨਿਰਵਿਕਲਪ ਸਮਾਧੀ' ਦਾ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਵਾਮੀ ਜੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਣਨ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।

ਹਵਾਲੇ ਸਵਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ਤੀਰਥ (ਹਿੰਦੀ: स्वामी रामतीर्थ 22 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1873 – 27 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1906), ਸਵਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੇਦਾਂਤ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਸੀ।
