ಮರಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿನ ಹಿಂಭಾಗ ಎರಡು ಉದ್ದನೆಯ ಪುಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಎದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆನ್ನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಮರದಂತಹ ನವಿರಾದ ಪಾರದರ್ಶಕ ಪುಕ್ಕಗಳು ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ.

ಚಳಿಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ರೆಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಲದ ಪುಕ್ಕಗಳು ಕಪ್ಪಾಗಿ ಬೇರೆಲ್ಲ ಪುಕ್ಕಗಳು ಬಿಳಿಯಬಣ್ಣಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗುತ್ತವೆ.

ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಾಢವರ್ಣದ ಪುಕ್ಕಗಳು ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಅವನ್ನು ಮರೆಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ.
