ಅಬೀಜ ಸಂತಾನದ ಮೂಲವು ನಿಸರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿನ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಪ್ರಾಣಿಜಾತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದನ್ನು ಅಂಡಾಣು ಸಂತಾನ (ಸಂಗಾತಿಯೊಂದಿಗಿನ ಸಂಪರ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲದೆಯೇ ಜೀವಿಯೊಂದು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸಂತಾನೋತ್ಪತ್ತಿ) ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ರೆಡ್ ವಿಗ್ಲರ್ ಎಂಬ ಜಾತಿಯ ಎರೆಹುಳು ಮಿಶ್ರಗೊಬ್ಬರ ತಯಾರಿಸಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಏಕದೇವೋಪಾಸನೆಯ ತಳಹದಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಂಘಟಿತರಾಗಿ ಜಾತಿ ಪದ್ಧತಿ, ಅಸಮಾನತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿ ದುಡಿಯುವ ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಹೊಸಜಾಗೃತಿಯನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

ಶಿಲೀಂಧ್ರಗಳ ಜಾತಿಗಳೂ ಕೂಡ ಅವುಗಳ ಜೀವನ ಚಕ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರುತ್ಪಾದನೆಯ ವಿಧಾನ (ಲೈಂಗಿಕ ಅಥವಾ ಅಲೈಂಗಿಕ) ಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಬಹುವಿಧದ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರಬಹುದು.
