ಈ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ನ್ಯಾಯ, ವೈಶೇಷಿಕ, ಸಾಂಖ್ಯ, ಯೋಗ, ಮೀಮಾಂಸ ಮತ್ತು ವೇದಾಂತವನ್ನು ಆಸ್ತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಗಳಾಗಿ ವರ್ಗೀಕರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ; ಮತ್ತು ಚಾರ್ವಾಕ, ಆಜೀವಿಕ, ಜೈನ ಧರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮದಂತಹ ಕೆಲವು ಪರಂಪರೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಸ್ತಿಕ ಎಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸರಳತೆಯು ಭಾವೋನ್ಮಾದ ಹಾಗೂ ನಾಸ್ತಿಕತೆ ಯ ಅಪಾಯಗಳ ಭಾವುಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅನುಭಾವದ ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳ ಪರಾಕಾಷ್ಠೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋರಾಟ ನಡೆಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ, ಅದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ತಾರ್ಕಿಕ ದೈವವಾದಿಗಳ ಎರಡನೇ ಅಲೆಯು; ನ್ಯೂಟನ್‌ರ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು "ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ಧರ್ಮ"ದ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡಿತು.
