1849ರ ಆದಿಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಆಫ್ಘಾನಿಸ್ತಾನದ ಆಮೀರ್‌ ದೋಸ್ತ್‌‌ ಮೊಹಮ್ಮದ್‌‌ ಖಾನ್‌ರು ಹತ್ತೊಂಬತ್ತನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಆದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಣಜಿತ್‌/ರಂಜಿತ್‌ ಸಿಂಗ್‌‌ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಪೇಷಾವರ ನಗರ ಹಾಗೂ ಅದರ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಡುವುದಾಗಿ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಬಂಡಾಯವೆದ್ದ ಸಿಖ್ಖರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಪಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಅವರ ಕೊನೆಯ ಹಾಡು "ಶ್ಯಾಮ್ ಫಿರ್ ಕ್ಯುಂವ್ ಉದಾಸ್ ಹೈ ದೋಸ್ತ್"(ಆಸ್ ಪಾಸ್ )ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಕಾಂತ್-ಪ್ಯಾರೆಲಾಲ್ ಅವರ ಹಾಡಿಗೆ ಧ್ವನಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಾವಿನ ಕೆಲವು ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಮುಂಚೆ ಧ್ವನಿಮುದ್ರಣ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು.

ದೋಸ್ತ್‌ ಮೆಹಮೂದನು ರಷ್ಯಾದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು ಮತ್ತು ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಷ್ಯಾ ಕೂಡ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಾಬೂಲ್‌ಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿತ್ತು.

೧೭೪೦ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಾಠರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ನಡೆಸಿ, ಕೊಳ್ಳೆ ಹೊಡೆದು, ಮಂಡಲಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿದ ನವಾಬ್ ದೋಸ್ತ್‌ ಅಲಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ, ಅವನ ಅಳಿಯನಾದ ಚಂದಾ ಸಾಹೇಬನನ್ನು ಸೆರೆ ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದರು.
