ಅದರ ಬೆಂಕಿಯುಂಟುಮಾಡುವ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅದು ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸುವ ಶಾಖ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನಿಲದ ಪರಿಮಾಣದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಕಾರಣ, ಕೋವಿಮದ್ದನ್ನು ಆಗ್ನೇಯಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳು, ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳು, ರಾಕೆಟ್‍ಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಡುಮದ್ದುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೋದಕವಾಗಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಲು ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ, ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ರಸ್ತೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಫೋಟಕ ಪುಡಿಯಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಈ ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳು ಜರ್ಮನ್ನರ ಸೇನೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಫಿರಂಗಿ ಗುಂಡು ಹಾರಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿದವು.

ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳು ಉಪಯೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ತರುವಾಯ ಲೋಹ ಫಲಕಗಳು ಬೇಕಾದವು.

ಲೋಹದ ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳು ಬಳಕೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ನಂತರ ಬಾಣ ಅಥವಾ ಆ ರೀತಿಯ ಯಾವುದಾದರೂ ಆಯುಧವನ್ನು ಕೊಳವೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ಸಿಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

ಅತಿಕ್ರಮಣಕಾರರು ಸಣ್ಣ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಗ್ರೆನೇಡ್ ಲಾಂಚರ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲದೆ, ಮೋರ್ಟಾರ್‌ಗಳು, ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಮಾನ ನಿಗ್ರಹ ಬಂದೂಕುಗಳಿಂದ ಸಜ್ಜಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

೧೯೪೮ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್‌ನಿಂದ ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್‌ವರೆಗೆ ರಂದು, ಜಮ್ಮುವಿನ ರಾಜೌರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲಬಾಂಬುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತೊಗೆದು, ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸೇನೆಯ ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳು ಯುದ್ಧಭೂಮಿಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಲು ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ತಂಡದ ನಾಯಕರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಲೋಧಿಯ ಸೈನ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳಿರದಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ, ಆನೆಗಳು ಫಿರಂಗಿಯ ಶಬ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆದರುವುದರಿಂದಲೂ, ಈ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಬರನ ಫಿರಂಗಿಗಳು ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕವಾದವು.
