ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ವಿದ್ಯಾಧಿರಾಜರು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದ ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ತೀರ್ಥರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಉತ್ತರಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಠಾಧೀಶ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೇಮಿಸಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
