इसके अन्तर्गत ध्वनि-शास्त्र (Phonetics) एक अलग से उपविभाग है जिसमें ध्वनि उत्पन्न करने वाले अंगों-मुख-विवर, नासिका-विवर, स्वर तंत्री, ध्वनि यंत्र के साथ-साथ सुनने की प्रक्रिया का भी अध्ययन किया जाता है।

इन दोनों अंगों के आकार में विषमता के कारण तीखे और चंचल बोल - ता, तिन, ना इत्यादि दाहिने पर बजाये जाते हैं और बायें का आकार बड़ा होने के कारण गंभीर आवाज वाले नाद धे, धिग इत्यादि बायें पर बजते हैं।

हठ प्रदीपिका में हठयोग के चार अंगों का वर्णन है- आसन, प्राणायाम, मुद्रा और बन्ध तथा नादानुसधान।

स्वराज प्राप्ति (1947) के बाद भारतीय विद्वानों का ध्यान आधुनिक भाषाओं के साहित्यों के सभी अंगों को पूरा करने की ओर गया और आधुनिक भारतीय भाषाओं में विश्वकोश निर्माण का श्रीगणेश हुआ।

Ruins of the old walls and towers still survive, as well as numerous kurgans or burial-mounds, with inscriptions, some in Arabic (1222-1341), others in Armenian (years 557, 984 and 986), and yet others in Turkic.
