2008 के अंतिम दौर में, एक नई किस्म के कैमरे का आगमन हुआ जिसमें DSLR कैमरों के अंतरपरिवर्तनीय लेंसों और बड़े-बड़े सेंसरों को, एक इलेक्ट्रॉनिक व्यूफ़ाइंडर के माध्यम से या पिछले LCD पर, कॉम्पैक्ट कैमरों की लाइव पूर्वावलोकन प्रणाली के साथ जोड़ा गया था।
