एक अन्य विचार के अनुसार हिमालय के प्रथम अक्षर 'हि' एवं इन्दु का अन्तिम अक्षर $न्दु$, इन दोनों अक्षरों को मिलाकर शब्द बना $हिन्दु$ और यह भू-भाग हिन्दुस्थान कहलाया।
