हालांकि जंगलों में इसके आहार के बारे में सटीक तथ्य उपलब्ध नहीं हैं, लेकिन कृत्रिम प्रयोगों के दौरान यह पाया गया है कि इसे आलू बुख़ारा, आंवला, बहिनिया तथा बबूल के फल अधिक पसन्द हैं।
