மல்பெரிப் பழம் (குறிப்பாக அதன் தோல்) இசுவெரட்ரால் தரும் ஒரு உணவுப்பொருளாக விற்கப்படுகின்றது.

மன்னரது தளபதி மயிலப்பன் சேர்வைக்காரன் என்பவர் மன்னரைத் தப்புவிக்கும் முயற்சியில் தோல்வியடைந்தபின் மக்களைத் திரட்டி ஆயுதக் கிளர்ச்சியொன்றைத் தொடங்கினார்.

இந்தத் தேர்தலில் இவரும், இவருடைய கட்சி சார்பாக போட்டியிட்ட வேட்பாளர்களும் அனைத்துத் தொகுதிகளிலும் தோல்வியை சந்தித்தனர்.

ஆனாலும், அந்த ஆய்வுக்கான துணைக்கருவிகள் செயல்பாட்டில் தோல்வியடைந்ததால் அவரது ஆய்வினைத் தொடர இயலவில்லை.

The nest of the siskin is very like that of the goldfinch, but seldom so neatly built; the eggs, except in their smaller size, much resemble those of the greenfinch.

Structurally it would seem to have some relation to the siskins (Chrysomitris), though the members of the two groups have very different habits, and perhaps its nearest kinship lies with the hawfinches (Coccothraustes).

Among the smaller birds may be enumerated finches, the siskin, bullfinch, pipit, titmouse, wagtail, lark, fine-crested wren, hedge-sparrow, corn-wren, nut-hatch, starling, swallow, martin, swift, thrush, butcher bird, shrike, dipper, yellow-hammer, ortolan and a warbler (Accentor alpinus).
