1875 ஆம் ஆண்டில், எடின்பரோவின் ராயல் சொசைட்டி உறுப்பினராக  சர் ஜோசப் லிஸ்டர், முதலாம்  பரோன் லிஸ்டர், ஜான் ஹட்டன் பால்ஃபோர், சர் வில்லியம் டர்னர் மற்றும் அலெக்ஸாண்டர் க்ரோம் பிரவுன் ஆகியோர்ன் பர்ந்துரைகளின் மூலம் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார்  .

வாத்துகள் ஜோசப் ஜாக்சன் லிஸ்டர் (Joseph Jackson Lister, 11 சனவரி 1786 – 24 அக்டோபர் 1869) பிரித்தானிய இயற்பியலாளர்; நுண்ணோக்கி உருப்பெருக்கியை உருவாக்கியவர்; நவீன அறுவை சிகிச்சையின் தந்தையாகிய ஜோசப் லிஸ்டரின் தந்தை ஆவார்.

அதேபோல ஒருநாள் துடுப்பாட்டத்தின் முதல் ஆட்டத்திலும் இரண்டாவது பந்திலேயே அலிஸ்டர் கேம்பெல்லை வீழ்த்தினார்.

ஜோசப் லிஸ்டர் இங்கிலாந்தில் உள்ள அப்ட்டன் என்னும் ஊரில் 1827 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 5-ஆம் நாள் பிறந்தார்.
