ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥାରେ ଏହା ନିରାପଦ ଥିବା ଅସମର୍ଥିତ ପ୍ରମାଣ ମିଳେ ତେଣୁ ଏହା ଦିଆଯାଏ ନାହିଁ ।

ସେହି ସମୟରେ କେତେକ ବୈଜ୍ଞାନିକ ମାନଙ୍କ ମତ ଥିଲା ଯେ, ମହାକାଶର ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପରିସ୍ଥିତିର ମୁକାବିଲା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଅସମର୍ଥ ଏବଂ ମନୁଷ୍ୟକୁ ମହାକାଶର ଅଭିଯାନରେ ପଠେଇବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ କୌଣସି ଏକ ଜୀବକୁ ନେଇ ପରୀକ୍ଷଣ କରିବା ନିହାତି ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ଥିଲା ।

ଏହାର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଅର୍ଥ ଥିଲା ଯେ ତତ୍କାଳୀନ କଟକ ନଗର ପରିଚାଳନା ଅଧିକାରୀ ନଗରକୁ ନିର୍ମଳ ରଖିବାରେ ଅସମର୍ଥ ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି ।
