यह अपनी तीतरों व अन्य समान पक्षी प्रजातियों के लिये प्रसिद्ध है जिनमें से कुछ विशेष हैं: मैना, भारतीय मोर, ब्लू रॉक कबूतर, रेड जंगलफ़ो, चीयर ईज़ेंट और चकोर।

यह कहानी 'सारिका' में अप्रैल 1976 में प्रकाशित हुई थी।

वे 'सारिका' 'धर्मयुग', 'जागरण' और 'दैनिक भास्कर' जैसे प्रसिद्ध पत्र-पत्रिकाओं के संपादक भी रहे।

मैनानंगल एक अधेड़ सुंदरी महिला के रूप में वर्णित है जो अपने ऊपरी धड़ को अलग करने में सक्षम है ताकि वह चमगादड़ के जैसे पंखों के साथ रात में असंदिग्ध सोई हुई गर्भवती औरतों का उनके ही घरों में शिकार करने के लिए उड़ सके।

उस समय बम्बई (मुंबई) हिन्दी/ उर्दू साहित्य का केन्द्र था और वहाँ से धर्मयुग/ सारिका जैसी लोकप्रिय और सम्मानित पत्रिकाएँ छपती थीं तो १९६४ में निदा काम की तलाश में वहाँ चले गए और धर्मयुग, ब्लिट्ज़ (Blitz) जैसी पत्रिकाओं, समाचार पत्रों के लिए लिखने लगे।

तंत्री या तारों के अलावा इसमें घुड़च, तरब के तार तथा सारिकाएँ होती हैं।

पराग, सारिका और दिनमान जैसी पत्रिकाओं में बतौर संपादक अपनी छाप छोड़ने वाले नंदन ने कई किताबें भी लिखीं।

There is one trogon - green and crimson, a brightly coloured ground thrush (Pitta), numerous woodpeckers and barbets; glossy starlings, the black and white African crow and a great variety of brilliantly coloured weaver birds, waxbills, shrikes and sun-birds.
