लघुबीजाणुधानी जिस पत्र में लगी रहती है, उसे लघुबीजाणु पर्ण (Microsporophyll) कहते हैं।

प्रत्येक बीजाणुपर्ण (sporophyll) में बीजाणुधानी (sporangium) की संख्या भिन्न भिन्न प्रजातियों में भिन्न होती है, जैसे टैक्सस में चार से सात, टोरेया (torreya) में शुरू में सात, परंतु बीजाणुधानी पकने तक १ या २ ही रह जाती हैं।

बीजाणुधानी की संख्या ४-५ या ६ तक होती है।

(1) लाइकोपोडिएलीज़ की बीजाणुधानी समबीजाणु (homosporous) होती है, अर्थात् सभी बीजाणु एक ही प्रकार के होते हैं।

लघुबीजाणुधानी के बाह्यचर्म से नीचे अधस्त्वचा (hypodermis) के कुछ कोश बढ़ते तथा जीव द्रव से भरे रहते हैं और विभाजित होकर, बीजाणुजन ऊतक बनाते हैं और फिर इन्हीं कोशों के कई बार विभाजन होने पर परागकण और अन्य ऊतक बनते हैं।

प्रजनन हेतु लघुबीजाणुधानी तथा गुरुबीजाणुधानी नर तथा मादा शंकु में लगी होती हैं।

बीजाणुधानी (स्पोरैंजिया, Sporangia) तथा बीजाणु (स्पोर, spore) की रचना की दृष्टि से यह कुछ परोपजीवी पौधों (कवकों, फ़ंजाइ, Fungii) से मिलता जुलता है।
