इस विधि की उपयोगिता मुख्यत: मैगनेटाइट समृद्धीकरण में और समुद्ररेणु के रुटाइल से इल्मेनाइट पृथक्‌ करने में है।

चवरा यूनिट का ड्राय तथा वेट (ड्रेजिंग/अपग्रेड्रेशन) खनन तथा खनिज पृथ्थकरण से मौजूदा वार्षिक उत्पादन क्षमता इल्मेनाइट 154000 टन, रुटाइल 9500 टन, जिरकॉन 14000 टन तथा सिल्मेनाइट की 7000 टन की मौजूदा वार्षिक उत्पादन क्षमता है।

यह सुविधा इस अर्थ से अनोखी थी कि आईआरईएल ने बेनीलाइट प्रौद्योगिकी के आधार पर सभी इल्मेनाइट का प्रतिवर्ष 100 हजार टन 92% ग्रेड सिंथेटिक रुटाइल में परिवर्तित करने के लिए ऑसकॉम में पहली बार मूल्यवर्धित तथा ड्रेजिंग एवं कन्सनट्रेट प्रचालन प्लांट की स्थापना की।

बहुसंश्लेषी यमल में क्रमागत संमिलन तल (composition planes) समांतर होते हैं, जैसे ऐल्बाइट में, तथा चक्रीय युग्म (cycle twins) में ये तल समांतर नहीं होते, जैसे रूटाइल में।

इसकी मौजूदा õामता का अधिकतम उपयोग, नई क्षमता का संयोजन, विकास के लिए ग्लोबल TiO2 फीडस्टॉक मांग के मुख्य भाग को अधिकार में लेने और मूल्यवर्धित रुटाइल, जिरकॉन, सिल्मेनाइट एवं गारनेट उत्पादों का प्रतियोगिक स्तर पर विकास कर अच्छा राजस्व एवं लाभ अर्जित करने में मददगार होना।

लीच किये गये खनिज को सिंथेटिक रुटाइल (SR) प्राप्त करने तथा एसीटिक लीच लिकर को ARP में संसाधित किया जाता है जिससे HCI प्राप्त होता है जिसे पुनचक्रित करते हैं और ऑयरन ऑक्साईड को वेस्ट के रूप में जेनरेट किया जाता है।

एमके प्लांट में TiO2 ग्रेड का 55% इल्मेनाइट लगभग 90000 टन, रुटाइल 3500 टन तथा जिरकॉन 10,000 टन इसके अतिरिक्त 3000 टन मोनाजाइट और 10,000 टन गान्र्नेट का वार्षिक उत्पादन होता है जिसे आसपास के 5 गाँवो के मछुआरों के द्वारा मुख्य रूप से बीच वॉशिंग के माध्यम से आपूर्ति किया जाता है।

कुछ गुलाब क्वार्ट्ज में सूक्ष्म रुटाइल सुइयां होती हैं जो संचरित प्रकाश में एक क्षुद्रग्रह का निर्माण करती हैं।
