इस प्रकार ‘योग’ शब्द का अर्थ हुआ- समाधि अर्थात् चित्त वृत्तियों का निरोध।

खुली अर्थव्यवस्था को अगर उसके शाब्दिक अर्थ से समझें तो इसका मतलब होता है एक ऐसा देश या समाज जहाँ किसी को किसी से भी व्यापार करने की छूट होती है और ऐसा भी नही कि इस व्यापार पे कोई सरकारी अंकुश या नियंत्रण नही होता।

राजयोग का विषय चित्तवृत्तियों का निरोध करना है।

पतञ्जलि ने योगसूत्र में, जो परिभाषा दी है 'योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः', चित्त की वृत्तियों के निरोध का नाम योग है।

ये मूल अधिकार नागरिक को निश्चात्मक (positive) रूप में प्राप्त हैं तथा राज्य की सार्वभौम सत्ता पर अंकुश लगाने के कारण नागरिक की दृष्टि से ऐसे अधिकार विषर्ययात्मक (negative) कहे जाते हैं।

इन्द्र को कभी-कभी धनुष-बाण और अंकुश से युक्त भी बतलाया गया है।
