चित्रकला पर पहले भारतीय ग्रंथ 'चित्र लक्षण' में एक कथा का उल्लेख आता है, वह इस प्रकार है- एक राजा के पुरोहित का बेटा मर गया।



अंग्रेज वैज्ञानिक और पादरी जोसेफ प्रिस्टली (१७३३-१८०४) ने सन १७३४ में ऑक्सीजन की खोज की थी।

पुरोहित तथा आचार्य सुबह-सुबह यजमानों के घर पहुँचकर उन्हें राखी बाँधते हैं और बदले में धन, वस्त्र और भोजन आदि प्राप्त करते हैं।
