  'सुखबासी' के लिए एक नीतिवचन इस प्रकार चलता है: ai गय नै गोरू, सुख नीड़ करू 'जिसका अर्थ है कि बिना मवेशी वाले लोगों को अच्छी नींद आती है।

इस पूरे प्रकरण के आरम्भ में द्रौपदी की बातों के समर्थन में भीम द्वारा युधिष्ठिर के प्रति कुछएक नीतिवचन कहे गये हैं।

पुराणों का उद्देश्य पुराने वृत्तों का संग्रह करना, कुछ प्राचीन और कुछ कल्पित कथाओं द्वारा उपदेश देना, देवमहिमा तथा तीर्थमहिमा के वर्णन द्वारा जनसाधारण में धर्मबुद्धि स्थिर रखना था।
