शब्दार्थ तंग के दो अर्थ हैं - १) किसी को कष्ट देना।

किसी खिलाड़ी को बार-बार ड्रॉ के प्रस्ताव सहित किसी भी तरीके से दूसरे खिलाड़ी का खेल की तरफ से न तो ध्यान भंग करना चाहिए, अथवा न ही उसे तंग करना चाहिए।

कामन्दक ने भी अपने नीतिसार में दण्ड के तीन भेद स्वीकार करते हुए कहा है कि शत्रु का धन हरण कर लेना, शारीरिक| कष्ट देना तथा उसका बध कर देना ही दण्ड के तीन भेद हैं।

शनि के दो शिष्य राहु और केतु माने जाते हैं,राहु शनि का मुख औरकेतु शनि की पूंछ मानी जाती है, जब जातक को साधारण कष्ट देना होता है, तो शनि केतु को जातक को प्रताडित करने का आदेश देता है, और बुराई या बुराई करने वाले जातक को खत्म करने का शनि मानस बनाता है तो यह राहु को आदेश देता है।
