कभी कभी, लेकिन बहुत कम, एक पाक्य (भोजन पकाने संबंधी) "फल" वनस्पतिक अर्थ मे एक वास्तविक फल नहीं होता, उदाहरण के लिए रेवतचीनी को अक्सर एक फल माना जाता है क्योंकि इसका उपयोग मिष्ठान बनाने मे किया जाता है, हालाँकि रेवतचीनी का सिर्फ डंठल (पर्णवृंत) ही खाने योग्य होता है।

तुला की डंडी (beam) का संचलन या तो दूरदर्शी से देखना चाहिए अथवा पैमाने के आर पार डंडी से लगे हुए शीशे से परावर्तित होते एक प्रकाशपुंज की मापनी (scale) पर गति से।

पलड़े प्राय: दो होते थे, जिनमें तीन छेद बनाकर आज ही की तरह डोरियाँ निकाल कर डंडी से बाध दिए जाते थे।

फूल लंबे डंठल के सिरे पर होता है तथा डंठल या नाल में बहुत से महीन महीन छेद होता हैं।

सूखे चारों में गेहूँ के भूसे के बाद ज्वार का डंठल तथा पत्ते ही सबसे उत्तम चारा माना जाता है।

यदि अत्यन्त उच्च स्तर की शुद्धता की आवश्यकता हो, तो यह आवश्यक है कि तुला की डंडी चुंबकीय प्रभाव से पूर्णतया प्रच्छन्न (screened) हो और तुला को एक लोहे के बक्स (case) में रखा जाए।

जब पौधों का डंठल बिलकुल सूख जाए और झुकाने पर आसानी से टूट जाए, जो मार्च अप्रैल में पकी हुई फसल को काटना चाहिए।

कपड़े की सफाई तथा रंगाई पर्थ में होेती है परंतु जूट तथा लिनेन का मुख्य केंद्र डंडी है।

फलस्वरूप, वर्ष 1930 के उत्तरकाल में ज्ञानानंद सरस्वती नामक बनारस के डंडी स्वामी ने यहां आकर ज्योतिर्मठ के लिये एक न्यास की स्थापना की, जिसकी देखभाल का भार उनके संगठन भारत धर्म महामंडल पर था और फिर उन्होंने पदस्थापन के लिये एक गुणी डंडी की खोज शुरू की क्योंकि वे स्वयं इस पद पर नहीं आना चाहते थे।

अपने डंठल के पास कुछ गहरी हरी, लेकिन अपने किनारों के आसपास थकावट और और झड़ने की आशंका लिए पीली-पीली, वह पत्ती जमीन से कोई बीस फ़ुट ऊंची अभी तक अपनी डाली से लटकरही थी।

ताप का प्रभाव तुला पर कम से कम हो, इसलिये यह आवश्यक है कि इनवार की डंडी व्यवहार में लाई जाय, किंत इनवार कुछ हद तक चुंबकीय है।

इन उद्योगों से संबंधित नगर समुद्रतट पर डंडी से फोर्थ तक बिखरे हुए हैं।

यह यूनानी शब्द βακτηριον से निकला है, जिसका अर्थ है - छोटी सी डंडी।

जिस डंडी में पलड़े झुलाए जाते थे वह काँसे की होती थी तथा पलड़े प्राय: ताँबे के होते थे।

इसका पौधा नरकट की तरह एक डंठल के रूप में सीधा ५-६ हाथ ऊँचा जाता है।

डंठल में सात सात आठ आठ अंगुल पर गाँठें होती हैं जिनसे हाथ डेढ़ हाथ लंबे तलवार के आकार के पत्ते दोनों ओर निकलते हैं।

pedicles arise secondary outgrowths, at first covered with skin, which (owing to the growth of a ring of bone at the base arresting the flow of blood) eventually dries up and leaves bare bone incapable of further growth.

In the Asiatic muntjac deer we find a pair of skin-covered horns, or " pedicles," corresponding to the paired horns of the giraffe, although welded to the skull.
