प्रयोगशालाओं में काम आनेवाले क्यू (Kew) पैटर्न के डिपवृत्तों में पतले इस्पात का एक चुंबक होता है जिसके साथ गोमेद (agate) क्षुरधारों (knief edges) पर टिके हुए एक सूक्ष्म इस्पात की धुरी की व्यवस्था होती है।

One variety is that in which transparent brown glass is so mixed with opaque white and blue as to resemble onyx.
