इंग्लैण्ड एवं फ्रांस की तुष्टिकरण की नीति ने हिटलर एवं मुसोलिनी को अपना आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाने में मदद की और विश्व के राजनीतिक पटल पर इटली, जर्मनी, एवं जापान के साथ-साथ स्पेन के फ्रांको जैसे तानाशाह का भी उदय हुआ।
