জজজगुजरात राज्य में की जाने वाली वास्तु शिल्पीय नक़्क़ाशी कम से कम 15वीं शताब्दी से गुजरात भारत में लकड़ी की नक़्क़ाशी का मुख्य केंद्र रहा है।

बाहर से देखने पर यह मस्जिद साधारण सी दिखती है, किन्तु इसके चारों कोनों की बुर्जियों पर सुन्दर नक़्क़ाशी और शिल्प प्रदर्शित है।

इस मंदिर पर बने हुए नक़्क़ाशीदार गोले और नतोदर ढलाई, छोटे-छोटे स्तंभों तथा सुदंर कलापूर्ण कटावों आदि से यह निश्चित हो जाता है कि इसका निर्माण गुप्तकाल में हुआ था।

भित्तिचित्रों पत्थर व लकड़ी पर नक़्क़ाशी देव चित्र (पट्ट चित्रकला के नाम से विख्यात) और ताड़पत्रों पर चित्रकारी के माध्यम से कलात्मक परंपराएं आज भी कायम हैं।

आधुनिक उद्योगों में इनके अलावा क़ालीन, दरी, कंबल, कांसे के बर्तन तथा सोने-चांदी के आभूषण व लकड़ी पर नक़्क़ाशी, प्रलाक्षाकर्म, लाख की वस्तुएं, मोटे सूती वस्त्र ‘गंज़ी’ की बुनाई और कपड़ों पर छपाई का काम शामिल है।

परंतु इसके चारों ओर मिट्टी और चूने की बनी हुई पक्की फर्शों तथा दीवारो के बाहरी भाग में प्रयुक्त अस्त-व्यस्त नक़्क़ाशीदार पत्थरों के आधार पर कुछ विद्धानों ने इसे 8वीं शताब्दी के लगभग का माना है।

टीलों पर उगे वृक्षों और झाड़ों के बीच आज भी सुंदर नक़्क़ाशीदार शिलाएँ उपलब्ध होती हैं।

मुग़ल काल (1556-1707) के दौरान गुजरात की लकड़ी नक़्क़ाशी में देशी एवं मुग़ल शैलियों का सुंदर संयोजन दिखाई देता है।

यहाँ दफ़्ती और मोटा काग़ज़, कपड़ा बुनने, चमड़े का सामान बनाने और लकड़ी पर नक़्क़ाशी का काम अधिक किया जाता है।

यह नगर पुरातन नगर है, यहाँ पाये जाने वाले अवशेषों से यह सिद्ध होता है, इसके चारों ओर चार विशाल तालाब, नक़्क़ाशीदार स्तंभ और जैन मंदिरों के छज्जे स्थित हैं।
