जिस शिला में बालू के बहुत बड़े बड़े दाने मिलते हैं, उसे मिश्रपिंडाश्म और जिसमें छोटे छोटे दाने होते हैं उसे बालुमय शैल या मृण्मय शैल कहते हैं।
