आजकल धार्मिक चलचित्रों और धारावाहिकों में नारद जी का जैसा चरित्र-चित्रण हो रहा है, वह देवर्षि की महानता के सामने एकदम बौना है।

'विष्णुपुराण' के अनुसार अठारह पुराणों के नाम इस प्रकार हैं—ब्रह्म, पद्म, विष्णु, शैव (वायु), भागवत, नारद, मार्कण्डेय, अग्नि, भविष्य, ब्रह्मवैवर्त, लिङ्ग, वाराह, स्कन्द, वामन, कूर्म, मत्स्य, गरुड और ब्रह्माण्ड।

दरअसल जो व्याध तारा बिना दूरबीन के आँख से एक तारा लगता है वह वास्तव में एक द्वितारा है, जिसमें से एक तो मुख्य अनुक्रम तारा है जिसकी श्रेणी A1V है जिसे "व्याध ए" कहा जा सकता है और दूसरा DA2 की श्रेणी का सफ़ेद बौना तारा है जिसे "व्याध बी" बुलाया जा सकता है।

अधिकतम तो पिछले हिमयुग में ही विलुप्त हो गई थीं, हालाँकि मैमथ का बौना स्वरूप सन् 2000 ई.पू. तक जीवित रहा।

यद्यपि बृहस्पति को एक सितारा बनने हेतू हाइड्रोजन संलयन के लिए ७५ गुना बड़ा होने की आवश्यकता होगी, सबसे छोटे लाल बौना तारे की त्रिज्या बृहस्पति से लगभग ३० प्रतिशत अधिक है।
