‘कौटिल्य अर्थशास्त्र’ के प्रथम अधिकरण का प्रारम्भिक वचन इस सम्बन्ध में अधिक प्रकाश डालने वाला है:।

माता कुन्ती के वचनानुसार पाँचों पाण्डवों ने द्रौपदी को पत्नीरूप में प्राप्त किया।

ऐसा इसलिये होता है क्योंकि सभी शब्द विभक्ति और वचन के अनुसार होते हैं और क्रम बदलने पर भी सही अर्थ सुरक्षित रहता है।
